HRT: The Continued Journey Through the Ups and Downs of Perimenopause

Well, folks, I’ve officially survived my first week on this wild ride known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). And guess what? I decided to kick things off during PMs week! Just my luck, right? If you’re not familiar with PMs week, let me paint you a picture: sleepless nights, bloating that could rival a beach ball, breasts that feel like they’re auditioning for a role in a horror film, headaches that could make you question your life choices, and night sweats that turn your bed into a makeshift water park. Fun times!

So, there I was, feeling like the universe had personally decided to give me a smackdown right before my period. And because I can’t start on the progesterone until 14 days after the start of my period, I was left to fend for myself against the symptoms that hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean, who thought being a woman would come with such a ridiculous set of challenges? Seriously, I’m over this “female crap”!

But here’s the twist: my period finally started, and I got my second testosterone shot. Suddenly, I’m feeling like a million bucks! I even managed to drop 2 pounds in a week! For someone like me, that’s a huge win. Losing 1-2 pounds a week is the sweet spot for healthy weight loss. Now, if only I could get my abs to pop back out and remind me of their existence!

Diet-wise, I was doing great—until yesterday. We unexpectedly lost our beloved pup, Bentley. That sadness hit hard, and let me tell you, food was the last thing on my mind. I took a deep breath this morning and decided to push through the tears. Some days are just tougher than others, but I’m determined to keep moving forward.

Now, let’s shift gears and leave the sadness behind! Despite all the chaos of perimenopause, I have to say, this HRT journey has been surprisingly good so far. No major side effects to report (yet), but I’m keeping my fingers crossed! As for my voice, it’s still as girly as ever. I guess we can’t win them all!

So, if you’re out there battling the perimenopausal beast, I’d love to hear what’s helped you on your journey. Let’s share the laughs, the struggles, and maybe a few of those “I can’t believe this is my life” moments together.

Stay strong, fabulous friends! We’ve got this! 💪✨
